Fifteen minutes into this movie and it was clear to me that this was going to be a top notch film. It is a prestige film among the comicbook movie genre.

It’s serious tone is somewhat reminiscent to that of Joaquin Phoenix 2019 Joker movie. And just like the Joker, I felt it lacked any “Superhero fun” being so grounded in reality. I am all for Superhero movies having a serious feel to them, but the great ones do it while still keeping that fantastical element that comes with it’s Superhero source material. But don’t get me wrong, this is a solid piece of film making!

The little action we do get here is nothing less then spectacular and Pattinson’s portrayal of Batman should release him of that Twilight stigma. This Batman is fierce and brutal while never losing sight that he’s the “good” guy. What this film lacks in superhero fun it makes up for with intense, almost horror, type story telling. The vibe I got fall’s somewhere between Silence of the Lambs and the first Saw movie. It may not work as your typical superhero movie but it works very well as a first-rate thriller!
